Sew and Chat Quilting Group

The Sew and Chat quilting group continues to be a vital part of the First Lutheran Church family. We meet regularly to create tied quilts that are shared with Lutheran World Relief for distribution, as well as with church members who may benefit from the comfort and encouragement these gifts bring. In addition, we knit and crochet prayer shawls, lap robes, and baby blankets for members of First Lutheran.

In 2025, we chose to distribute quilts within the United States where the need was greatest. We sent 35 quilts to North Carolina following the devastating hurricane. Locally, prayer shawls were presented to members in need of spiritual support, and baby blankets were gifted to infants at their baptism.

We are deeply grateful for the generosity of friends and members of our congregation who provide us with supplies such as bed sheets and quilt tops—your contributions make this ministry possible.

The group meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month in the Library Lounge from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Each person brings a sack lunch, and we enjoy both food and fellowship during our midday break.

We often say we receive more than we give through this service. Please consider joining us when you are able—you will find both joy and special fellowship in this ministry.
